Properties of Water
Water's molecule is composed of two parts hydrogen, one part oxygen.
Atoms are made up of Protons, Electrons, and Neutrons.
Each Hydrogen atom in a water molecule shares it's single electron with the oxygen atom. And the oxygen atom shares one of it's electrons with the two hydrogen atoms.
Water is a polar molecule because it's shared electrons spend more time around the oxygen atom than the hydrogen, and the hydrogen atom caries a slightly positive charge and the oxygen atom caries a slightly negative charge.
Hydrogen bonding is the weak attraction between the weakly positive hydrogen atoms and the weakly negative oxygen atoms of a different molecule.

Water is a universal solvent
Cohesion is water's ability to stick to other water molecules.
Adhesion is water's ability to stick to something else.
Surface tension is a type of skin formed on the surface of the water by the hydrogen bonds.
Water has three phases it can be solid, liquid, and gas.
Heat is a measure of the total kinetic energy of the atoms and molecules measured in calories.
One calorie is the amount of heat needed to raise 1 gram by 1 degree Celsius.
Water has a high heat of vaporization because the hydrogen bonds must be broken so water can absorb a lot of heat without changing phase.
Water has a high latent heat of fusion which means a lot of heat is released when water freezes and a lot of heat is absorbed when it melts.
Water has a high specific heat this means that water can absorb average amount of heat before it begins to get hot.
